matty
Heh.. Looks like I'm stalking you tonight Mr T. Saw Gong at Glasto too this year for the first time in eons. (they were just the ame) Not sure how well they'd go down at a festival in Douglas though. Daevid Allen went down really well in the Peel Centenery Center last year! I missed him at The Big Chill in favour of seeing David Byrne, but I heard he was bloody brilliant. Not bad for such an old geezer. Realistic artists I think would be in budget and get a good crowd in. night one : David Gray night two : Duran Duran night three: Manic Street Preachers what I'd like to see in an ideal world night one : Faithless night two: mogwai/sigur ros double header night night three: close on Bush reforming
Jimcalagon
Daevid Allen went down really well in the Peel Centenery Center last year! Does he still do all the jokes about the Pope?
Declan
Boyzone If I know my schmaltzy oversentimental Irishmen they'll do it with a tear in the eye & a song from their hearts as a "tribute".

Jimcalagon
So the Bay Festival lot want people to buy tickets without knowing who is going to play? Imagine if you were a serious music fan, bought some tickets expecting musical acts of stature and talent and then discovered that Boyzone were headlining... If that's the calibre of act they are aiming at, I'll find something else to do that weekend.

Imagine if you were a serious music fan, bought some tickets expecting musical acts of stature and talent and then discovered that Boyzone were headlining... If that's the calibre of act they are aiming at, I'll find something else to do that weekend. The latest email is funny. 'glasto sold out without anyone knowing who's playing. So therefore festivals rule! You don't need to know the acts, just buy the tickets!'. Brilliant logic, ignoring the fact that glasto has a long history of booking quality acts and the bay festival doesn't.
Mutley
Does that mean the tickets will be 20% cheaper?
thebees
I hate to be the one to tell you this but....it's not going to be anywhere near as good as Mannifest was. The Bay festival is not being organised by festival people.
Mutley
Well any credibility they might have been building up has been shattered by their disclosure that Boyzone were booked. Unless of course they were booked to serve behind the bar...
nipper
What's all this negativity over the Festival and we had Boyzone booked as a headline. There is a super chance here for the Isle of Man to cash-in and make some commemorative stamps to mark the nearly occasion. Who needs VAT revenue and all that stuff when you can churn out bits of crinkly sticky paper at the drop of a hat and sell them to the world for a few quid each. Jimcalagon
Seriously, I was considering buying tickets but if Boyzone is a representative sample of the what the organisers consider entertainment, I'm not going to bother. I'd rather watch someone banging a bin lid outside M&S.
