THRILLER
ya know i think your right, i forgot all about Port st Mary and been focusing on Douglas for some reason
Tempus Fugit
the bikes are definitely in Port St Mary, outside Wilf's Snack Bar, with the church set back next to it, then Joughin's grocery shop the first in the next terrace. The top picture stumps me a bit for the moment, the sharp edge to the forest looks a bit like Slieauwhallian but the bumps on the left don't ! Minxie
I was going to say the bottom one is Port St Mary, but see Tempus Fugit got there first I remember Nichol's the green grocers next to the cafe.

I'd say about 1958 as a first guess, going on the 5639MN number on the triumph and a 3 digit MN on another any closer guesses ? (how old was your dad then Thriller ?) When Skies Are Grey
The top picture stumps me a bit for the moment, the sharp edge to the forest looks a bit like Slieauwhallian but the bumps on the left don't ! I was thinking that too....it could be that there are more trees there now hence the bumps are covered...but where would that make the field they are in... I think it's probably Sulby Claddaghs, they have lumpy hills like that around there (is it something like 'terminal moraine' ?) but I can't just remember how much forestry is up there to the right. Looks like some low buildings behind the hedge, or is it just the bottom of the forest ?
Addie
An old bloke of my acqaintance says the cafe is Smokey's in Port St Mary He's guessing he can spot George Dugdale - far right David Moughton on left of striped pole? John Teare - on right of striped pole? Peter 'Knocker' Norris (now in Auzzie) - 2nd right of pole looking to camera? Top Picture - guessing Sulby @ Easter and guessing again Dusty Miller in centre - pretty certain Maybe Jennifer Parr (fair haired lying down) ? Rob White(?) on the right of the person in white sweater (Geoff Moon?) 3rd from right maybe 'Nippon'?

jagman
I'd go along with Sulby Claddaghs for the top picture. Are Dusty's sketches still being used in Manx Tails?

Dave the Cardboard Box
I reckon the number on the Triumph was issued about 1962, possibly early 1963.

Tempus Fugit
An old bloke of my acqaintance says the cafe is Smokey's in Port St Mary I could never remember which was Wilf's and which was Smokey Joe's ! Maybe Jennifer Parr (fair haired lying down) ?Rob White(?) on the right of the person in white sweater (Geoff Moon?) I am told that Jennfer Parr married Rob White, both worked on the telephones, Jenny was a 'telephone girl' and I believe she died quite young (Rob is on the immediately above photo, front row right)
