Alex
Doves have confirmed they are to play the Island on their site! Doves Excellent news, heard rumours for a while, but ace to see it in black & white. Can't wait, they're amazing live, saw em at Glastonbury earlier this year, one hell of a show. Well done to whoever organised that!

Shill
Yes!!!! One of my favourite tunes of all time Pounding by Doves!!! Any idea when the tickets are going on sale?
thebees
You can't buy em off See Tickets - guess The Villa. *Cough Edit - And the Villa box office isn't open til 10, they are so 'small venue'. Typical Isle of Man government. Pathetic. Edit #2 - Isle of Man tickets are not on sale yet.....they will be on sale on a Saturday, but they aren't sure which Saturday it will be that they go on sale, right. the-rhymes
Do they make you sit down? Or can you gyrate in the Villa?
TheScope
Most people were standing for the SFA last monday, so gyrating aplenty was had. I'd imagine it might be a bit busier for the Doves though, with them being a more mainstream act.
Rhumsaa
They have also had a hit since 1996 Sounds like we're starting to get more and more bands at times of the year other than TT week I am very impressed
TheScope
They have also had a hit since 1996 To be fair, the SFA arent really a singles band though are they? Trying to squeeze their sprawling soundscapes into a 3.5 minute "radio friendly" package just wouldnt work. And Guto is a much more interesting bass player than that geezer out of the Doves... Rhumsaa
I do agree - I was amazed we got them as they are one of many bands like Mogwai who aren't popular music But then we need to start getting that sort of act - much better than the washed up "we had a hit 8 years ago" bands we have had mostly like Cast and Reef (I did enjoy the latter tho). Feeder are doing a UK tour - now they would be a catch...
TheScope
Yeah Feeder would be a good one. Kasabian would be a good catch IMO (although as Modey has already mentioned, theres a rumour that they were turned down to play over here.)
Slim
Er, woot! They'll have to go some to beat the super furry's though.
