Window dressing or not, the CIs governments will be heaving a sigh of relief that they have a CI's based operator. My question is, why would your own government want to shag you for providing a service to the community, even if it is in partnership with another??

But they've been hounded by the equivalent of the CIs monopolies for partnering with FlyBe........

But Blue Islands are based in CIs. Which is just as well... as that kinda reinforces the need for an Island based operator!

You're right, it is.... but you have to get there first from the other outlying airports! That's the point I and ASITIS are making! We need a meaningful, sustainable link to the UK that we can rely on, one that isn't subject to the vagaries of the here-today-gone-tomorrow low-cost airlines.

The dynamics of running an airline these days are not as clear cut as you think...... communities stuck out on the edge or way from major hubs need sustainable air links to survive. IOM is not a hub, in operational terms it on a par with the HIAL.

I am, by inclination, not an interventionist. However, if you have to intervene then you should only do so if you can make it work to your advantage. And I can see some advantage in terms of driving customers/[passengers to Mann for the benefit of the visitor economy by offering limited heavily discounted pricing.

I would really have liked this operation to have succeeded. But when, in just under 12 months at being at the helm, they discover they need more money to pay government duty than they had budgeted for, then you do have to ask the question about how realistic their financial plans were in the first place. Surely the whizkids from Cyrus Capital with their "professionals with skill sets including bankruptcy and restructuring, industry, legal, private equity, capital structure, derivatives, trading, and capital markets." had some idea of how an airline operates? Wouldn't you? It beggars belief, to me at least.

Borrowing it in lieu of outstanding landing fees would be a better idea. At least we'd only have to pay for the operating costs!
