  1. Why do you think I'm angry? Not in the least, if I'm honest I'm ambivalent to most of what the report says and to MR itself. I'm asking why the UK government should respond to the Tynwald Committee? I thought it was a perfectly reasonable question. The fact that the BBC is mentioned in the report doesn't necessarily require UKG to respond to a Tynwald Committee, does it? I would have thought the BBC Governors might want to contribute but not UKG.
  2. I'm referring to the the IOM Select Committee.... what jurisdiction does UKG have over them? Even if the BBC take it over wouldn't there have to be an Act of Tynwald to permit that?
  3. The question is: does this have anything whatsoever to do with UKG?
  4. Hmmmm yes... the little red operation. That didn't go too well for Virgin did it? Slots aside, why do Virgin think that they can make an operational success out of Flybe when they failed to do it first time around?
  5. Grayling said that the move was 'supported' by the Government. I wonder if he meant that as in, "it's good idea" or whether UKGOV is going to financially support FlyBe to operate the route? Keep in mind of course that by next April Brexit will have taken place.
  6. I think Terry Liddiard alluded to that on the radio t'other day(?).
  7. That's interesting because I went through all EZY flights ex IOM-LPL from 1st December through to 19th January and the cheapest I could find was £31.50.
  8. I don't think I have ever seen a £20 fare.
  9. I agree. It's insensitive and somewhat crass of the MC fraternity to piggy back off the one and only time in the year when the British Isles pays homage to those who paid the ultimate price. Nothing, IMHO, is comparable to that.
  10. But it's hardly ideal for anyone going further afield via either LGW or LHR, espectially if you have luggage. When the new Elizabeth/Crossrail line from Canary Wharf starts operating it might prove better.
  11. Like many others on here, I haven't had any real issues with EZY. I just wish they could format the IOM/LGW/IOM schedule more towards business customers, an early morning and early evening flight, Mon-Fri. Mid-day and one flight a day doesn't really hack it for me and, I suspect, for others who don't need to travel into The City but use LGW either as a departure point to other destinations or even the LGW/LHR bus service.
  12. MO, FWIW is that Flybe, given the make up of the fleet, should concentrate on the domestic and near EU lanes and forget all the others. They should never have gone public back in 2009/2010 in an effort to keep up with the low-cost boys, especially since the aviation market was taking a hit because of the 2008 crash. The low cost model was already well served with Ryanair & EasyJet. They came too late to the market to compete, especially in Europe. The much vaunted arrival of Embraer jets on the IOM and other lanes never, ever materialised. WTF did they do with the £20 odd million that they received from EZY for the LGW slots, other than pay a golden goodbye to the outgoing CEO, Jim French. And why/how the feck he got a CBE for his 'services' is beyond me. FlyBe could have been a force to be reckoned with in the domestic market but instead chose to ignore reality. That's me done! PS. I don't dislike FlyBe per se (just the Stobart ATR's that are bloody awful), I just think the strategy to go Europe-wide was a mistake.
  13. And long may that remain! I don't very often get a chance to listen to TH but on the odd occasion that I do I have noticed that our Stu is a lot more assertive in his questioning and the views he offers/holds. IMHO. Carry on that man!
  14. Did others apply and considered? Just askin'.
  15. It'll be every man for himself after Brexit.
  16. Aye..... but it also sounds very Masonic to me.
  17. There'll be two coming along any minute now!
  18. So why has MR had to go to Treasury with cap in hand for more three years in a row? Don't they have a proper 5-year business plan?
  19. That so-called music is as bad as the unanswered phone! Enough to drive you bonkers
  20. Are you going to finish Wilde's quote then?
  21. Depends which part of Onchan you're referring to.
