    Financially we have no choice, it has to be the connector with gas backup. Gas will still be required for a long time anyway for legacy reasons. In reality I suspect that MUA know and prefer this arrangement.

    The cheapest has to be the interconnector running into tens of millions rather than hundreds of millions for any of the other options, with the gas turbine as emergency backup?

    The problem is, that despite the new Agreement in place when it changed hands, Tynwald want something to do with it by setting up a committee. I said in the early days that IOMSPCo will be used as a political football and this is turning out to be true.

    Once you've gone past the original purpose for manufacture and use, ie carbon reduction then virtually anything you do to it (once it outlives it's usefulness) creates even more carbon. It's a circle that's very difficult to break.

    In 2/3 years time there'll be a completely different pricing structure for virtually all items, so that the offering will be the equivalent of an Express outlet.
