Removing the sand along the promenade ain't going to stop this from happening again:

Each of my companies (one in IOM and the other in UK) have two multi-currency accounts operated by PSPs plus a 'standard' banking provider. Frankly I see no need for using a 'standard' current banking operation as PSPs do exactly the same and are infinitely cheaper. My guess is that it won't be long before the established banks go the same way the the PSPs out of necessity to compete (hence the mass closure of physical branch operations).
Don't ask me why but like you I have a very uneasy feeling about the way this linkspan is sited/sitting until we see how far away from the wall the fenders will be sited. I also hope that they're going to place some protective stone/iron works to the left side (as you look at it now) of the linkspan.
The biggest concern Douglas Ratepayers should have is whether the garden walls are up to getting another pounding from the next big easterly hitting the prom.
What happened to the supposed work that DOI were going to do on strengthening/adding a seawall to mitigate serious overtopping down by the gardens??
Seems a bit premature to me if the seawall issue hasn't been done yet.
In case anyone is going to the Smoke over the weekend, you might want to be forewarned: https://extinctionrebellion.uk/2022/09/29/october-14-16-join-the-weekend-of-resistance/

I sincerely hope that what you say is not correct, re the fish bait issue. Perhaps if David Beard of the Manx Fish Producers Organisation and Minister Clare Barber are reading this then they will provide some clarity on this subject. It would be a total waste of taxpayers money (grants) and a total waste of a natural resource if this were true.
FWIW I think that early next year IOMG (who are too afraid to tell the Union to swivel and that they should be talking only to IOMSPCo) will intervene and cave in and ticket and in particular freight prices will rise early next year..... so watch inflation rise yet again.
This is interesting if true: https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/manx-industrial-relations-does-not-have-a-trained-qualified-arbitrator/
And, as I said it would, this is now getting political:
Try Sam Smiths: https://samuelsmithsbrewery.co.uk/shop/bottles/stout-bottles/imperial-stout/
Like you I got quietly smashed whilst sheltering from the snow in a Yorkshire Sam Smiths pub a few years back. It was definitely a stout and on draught but not 100% sure if it was the Imperial (above) or not. Fortunately the pub also happened to do B&B. Ended up staying two nights due to the weather! What a PITA that was! 😉
