  1. Did DBC consult with residents such as these before the change? We know that the issue of fortnightly collection was in the 'news' but I suspect that a lot of folk have different priorities and pressures in their lives than to worry about when their rubbish is collected.
  2. Bless you! Happy Christmas everyone!
  3. Actually it's maintenance dressed up as capital projects. Which tells you everything about the DOI.
  4. It's known in our house as the Temple of Doom. It really does show up the worst in people at times. Pushing, shoving, queue jumping/pushing in.
  5. Wasn't there a dedicated airport bus service at one point, every 30 mins or something like that?
  6. There wouldn't be much point in bidding for the work (if indeed it was bid for) unless you were turning in a profit. Or have I got that wrong?
  7. Can't you stick this under the Airport thread, it's already covered this topic?
  8. Oh gawd..... here we go again.... "it costs time and money". Of course it does but DBC is being paid handsomely by the ratepayers for providing those services (notwithstanding the noise issue). I thank God I don't live in the City.
  9. Sorry.... I read that as a bark account....
  10. Convenient coincidence, I think it's called.
  11. That's what the incinerator is for! What some haven't realised is that as the incinerator volumes fall less energy will be produced which in turn means that they'll have to keep injecting fuel oil to keep it alight. The incinerator was designed to create energy but some clods can't or won't see that. What's wrong with these people?
  12. ..... the hole just gets bigger and deeper. Yet more politicians who don't understand that less is more.
  13. It's lazy public finance economics.
  14. There is no business case. The hospital is not a business, it's existence is funded by the taxpayer. There'll be plenty of non-essential/frontline cost centres where savings could be made.
  15. This made me chuckle. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/douglas-council-admits-removing-litter-bins/
  16. Very, very few publicly funded transport systems make a profit. Why do you think ours should?
  17. You mean compete against taxis and the other bus operator?
