lisner
One of the Island's 'premier' advocates company involved in the case couldn't even spell Pakistan. They spelt it "Government of Parkison". Not to worry, they still get paid £mega out of it. Nice little earner though if you can get an international bribery case like this on your books. Although the bigger scams seem to be a little closer to home.
manxchatterbox
I wonder who the CSP is that provided the company services/ registered office and directors etc etc to Rockwood Estates Limited..how did they come to do it for such a politically exposed person....guess they must have charged a fat fee.... lisner
The £millions involved here are alleged to be the proceeds of corruption and rightfully belong to the Government, the people, of Pakistan. A number of Isle of Man companies were set up to disguise the true beneficial owner of assets. The Isle of Man seems pretty nifty at shifty stuff like that. It gives some people in Athol Street a hard on.
TheTool
Don't you just love the way companies from the isle of man are doing their bit for the isle of man branding. After all we are a GLOBAL PLAYER IN THE WORLD MARKET
ian rush
The regime change may have had something to do with the view the new Pakistani government took on corruption and its a fine line between proof of actual criminality and there being a political motivation to such an allegation, backed up by a judiciary eager to maintain good relations with or owing its appointment to the new regime. Further, these ex-presidential claims tend only to come out when someone is ex-,just as it did with the Republic of Ireland. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moriarty_Tribunal

Declan
Blooming Heck! I thought justice moved slowly over here. The Moriarty Comission has been going on since 1997 and still running. . The website even has a note on it to say that everything is Y2K compliant.
