Theskeat
Getting back to the original post, did you hear Alex Downie on the radio the other day saying that applicants for work permits here are also vetted as to whether they could speak English and how many dependants they had. If these Polish workers are legally here then why cannot they speak and understand English as the DTI Minister says?? This way we would not to have and pay for interpreters!! BECAUSE THE MAN IF FULL OF SHIT Can we still get BLACK jelly babies and what happened to the GOLLYWOG on Robinsons Jam
Ean
Can we still get BLACK jelly babies and what happened to the GOLLYWOG on Robinsons Jam Or even the golliwog on Robertson's jam... And nobody forced Robertson's to shelve the golliwog, it was still being used at the turn of the millenium. Presumably the claims of racism had been levelled well before this. Robertson's made a concious effort to keep the golliwog as the research they undertook found that for the vast majority of their customers "Golly" was a character that they liked and one that was obviously heavily associated with their brand. They got rid of golly when their research began to show that more and more children couldn't identify "golly" with Robertson's. They replaced "golly" originally with Quentin Blake's illustrations from Roald Dahl books, replacing one character from children's literature with another. So yeah...not a lot to do with the claims of racism. And yes, you can still get black jelly babies, you can also get red, yellow, green, pink and orange ones. Coincidentally Robertson's produced a range of Jelly Baby badges (of the same ilk as the Golly badges) that could be collected by saving the coupons on their jellybabies jam (and later on the golly coupons off the jam and mincemeat). Jacqueline
Damn you and your measured responses. I like it when FMCR gets wound up about the little things in life and then you go and spoil it all. Shame on you Ean. Shame on you.
