WKRP
Think we might have heard the future of Manx Radio on Friday when the station played local music for much of its output. It did really become Manx for the day. Not my cup of tea but it was something different.
WKRP
It’s all go on Douglas Head, two jobs up for grabs which they are advertising on Facebook Multimedia Journalist/Producer To initiate, write, produce and present, as part of a team, authoritative and up to date multimedia coverage of Isle of Man and International news, business news and sport for Manx Radio’s website, social media channels and traditional radio broadcasting. Commercial Media Administrator Due to the ongoing growth of our Local Focus Directory, Manx Radio is looking to expand its Commercial Media team by recruiting a Commercial Media Administrator, which will allow the station to deliver even better services to our clients by offering more contact and more creative input and ideas.
Andy Onchan
And I heard this morning over the airwaves that MR has a "Local Democracy Reporter"! WTF is all that about?

(could be mistaken though).
gettafa
Well on paper yes. I suppose it saves people trying to suggest the Government via the Gawne's have some sort of influence on Manx Radio. I see Phil was on that Sunday morning manxie manxie programme again this week. When that happens I switch over to the Archies on BBC Radio 4. If I want to hear a theatrical Manx accent I'll go to the Young Farmer's Concert. The guy has cost the non-landowning people of the Isle of Man a fortune by introducing that somewhat euphemistically named Countryside Care Scheme for his friends. That was when he was one of Tynwald's blue-eyed boys as Ag & Fish minster or whatever it is called now. And now he is given a seat at the nation's mouthpiece radio station. gettafa
This is the Isle of Man. When a government job goes the encumbent is moved sideways. Oh, and very much upwards of course, with a job title change and a big increase in salary. And pension. This is the Isle of Man (oh, I already said that) where once you are lifted onto the Government employment gravy train, there is only one direction - towards the first class carriages. That smart new carriage marked Cabinet Office is expanding rapidly and they love media ('specially Manx Radio) types. WKRP
Seems Manx Radio were expecting the Local Democracy Reporter to cover Tynwald for free. But the BBC thinks the job is more aimed at the local authorities around the Island, which don't get covered much. A lot of long lonely dark nights ahead for the reporter then sitting in church halls etc!
gettafa
The ol' man is now drawling pantomime manx inflected with Nationalist based bile on Manx Radio. 1
piebaps
Getty, FFS switch the radio off or change channels. Whining on here everytime you don't like a program is getting as boring as Albert's civil service bloat. On the whole I am very much a listener and supporter of Manx Radio. I always listen to Mandate, and Talking Heads when work is not in the way, and at least three of the 9-10pm specialist/local programs. And most (but certainly not all) of the rest. My gripe/whine here is with a convicted Nationalist terrorist plus his legacies from when a politician, getting so much air time. Now he's being portrayed by the National Broadcaster as a cuddly pantomime Manxman. Well, he may be that to some but he certainly ain't to me and many others I know. WKRP
BBC press office site says Cathrine Nicol and Alex Bell are to fill the two vacancies at BBC IOM Behind the scenes it seem that working for the current MR news editor was not something to look forward to for either person leaving. Not sure why but looks like a meltdown in the newsroom with only the ‘steady as she goes ‘ reporters left to keep going. Even Jason Roberts now back on air ON MR from 3FM Anyone know more about what’s going on up there?

Yes the MR democracy reporter, whose dad was an MHK when he was employed to report on democracy for the public service broadcaster.
