The fact is you can't measure radio consumption, and so an industry owned non independent body has been making it up for years by visiting houses during the day when only old mental people are home and then bribing the gullible old twats with enough money for dilligaf and his like to pop down the spar and get an instant hit of booze.  Only radio is measured by this yard of booze everyone else uses real data.

The fact is you CAN measure radio consumption.  Rajar have done it since 1992, when they took over from JICRAR.  The accuracy of their methodology however...

And it's not so different to how they used to measure TV (maybe still do?). Each household being surveyed had a box installed on the main set which had a kind of remote control with each button assigned to a member of the household.  You had to hit the button that corresponded to you whenever you settled down to watch something, pressing again whenever you left the room.  I was asked to have one, once.  Seem to remember they were offering £40 in M&S vouchers.  Would have been sometime in the late 90's.

If Manx Radio isn't carrying the TT then there's not a huge point in subsidising the sacred cow for £1m pa

Tynwald should properly debate the public sector media motion brought to it by Kerry Sharpe

It may be that an all digital media strategy is much more cost effective

Dropped off the tax return today, governmentr building - blaring in the public area was 3fm.

It maybe a tactical thing, like white noise, or playing some particular music to stop a seige.

Did you get the £100 fine for being late ?

You're not understanding woody.

MR receive a payment from the Gov for public service broadcasting. This doesn't include the bike racing.

Rob proposed that they should be made to do it as part of the payment.

Tynwald refused to back his idea saying that it would be wrong to dictate what the media do or don't do.

The broadcast contract for TT and MGP will now go to a public tender and anyone interested will be able to bid - that is if anyone wants to which will of course depend on the terms of the tender they put out. In 2018 the terms for MR meant that they couldn't generate their own advertising and had to promote DFE's advertisers.

We're now around 8 months to TT so they'd better get their fingers out. Anyone winning a bid will need to find the equipment, infrastructure, frequencies and staff and all that will take time.
