Kopek
He can eat quite cheaply on the Cafe! Is Tanya Hubbriscals going to take the 50k quid from the Govt and offer her services free to MR?

Either she was joking or she's going to get a shock. 1 3

Gagster
Interesting that since Brindley got the Programme Manager job, they’ve since created a new additional role of Content Manager (or something) that Ben Hartley now does and as has left the Late Show. Andy Wint is therefore an added expense. Manx Radio was already criticised in the Myers report for its high number of managers - but has in fact increased them since! In terms of money to burn... Does it need to have jingles orchestrated and sung at Abbey Road (they used to have resings of other station jingles back in the 80s and 90s - more economical), does it need Anthony Pugh AND John Marsom, does it need a Programme Manager AND a Content Manager, did it need to spend £13k on a party? I’m intrigued it can spend so much on things not needed one day, but plead poverty the next. Edited March 16, 2018 by Gagster 2
Donald Trumps
James Davis has been appointed News Manager - presumably not a new role, tho' I don't know

Money for old rope. Love to shadow one of them on a week's work. ETA: In fairness, of course, MR is not the only or even the worst offender in this regard when it comes to the government payroll. gettafa
It all sounds like any other Isle of Man Government department. The civil service are good at magicking up job titles along with the usual pay rise of course. Other people's money is easy to spend and for the last 30 years the Civil Service has been on a mission to fill its boots. The only people who can have a hope of doing anything about it are our elected representatives, but they are shunted to the first class carriages of the gravy train as soon as possible, to be part of the mighty party. And kept too busy and happy by the civil servants, for then to be bothered about mere pay awards.

Somebody has to have responsibility for printing the govt press releases and taking them through to the studio. An essential part of the Manx Radio operation!

They are quite sizeable Stu, considering the size and location of the station. The volume of staff is insane though, a Managing Director AND a Business Director? You presumably have a Head of Sales or Sales Manager too? An argument is often made of the need to produce and maintain quality output. But then you come on here and tell us that you often don’t know what’s happening on Talking Heads until you arrive at about 11:30am! That’s quite a scenario for a news and current affairs programme.
