I suspect the listening figures will be so bad...MR will probably choose not to publish them this time, or keep them quiet.

So Manx Radio received their latest listening figures yesterday morning.  There’s not much to say, fairly static for the last quarter of 2019.  So whilst there is little sign of growth, also not much in the way of decline either.

Moving forwards, the figures are worth watching.  They are still way way down from what they were a few years ago.

To be fair, it will take most Manx Radio listeners a few years to figure out how to re-tune the wireless.

Yeah. I remember reading a thing many years ago about a poor old bugger who had an old pre-war steam radio in the corner tuned permanently because of a busted mechanism to 247m for the Light Programme. He was stuck with Radio 1 when that started in 1967, and further bemused by Radio 3 with the 1978 changes.

To be fair, he was younger than some of the djs in Seventies.

Good morning all, I am listening to the great George Ferguson on Manx Radio, do not ask why I blame it on the wind....he has just been lamenting that his knowledge of Manx expressions  is wanting and followed up with perhaps he should ask Brian Stowell......really....

I suppose the pirates like Blackburn, Hairy Monster and Everett were still in their 20s in the early 70s, although not so much when some were still hanging around in the early 90s. The confusingly named Jimmy Young was an ancient relic even in the 70s despite being considered suitable for Radio 1.

I couldn’t stand that irritating prick. One of the most over-hyped irksome fuckers ever to be put in front of a microphone. ‘Housewives favourite’ my arse.
