I can see MR struggling to get any subvention this year...they' re pissing off 30% of their demographic. People power might get a big say this year I suspect.

I can see it being totally opposite. "If you (MHK's) want your opinions to be heard, we'll need to drop the competitions and bring in more news stories and we can't afford it...£1.5 million please."

No, but I could see where you're coming from..the post-date (from a few years ago, just to be clear/fair) assessment was, conceited and tight-fisted.

Now, to justify, this lass, since happily married, is not particularly financially seeking or ambitious in that respect...

But it takes all sorts...

Doesn't make a lot of difference though, does it? Nobody wished for Howard Quayle.

Well, nobody who's admitting to it...

He appears to have been the 'anyone but Cannan' candidate for the role

Wonder who that'll be in next years election?

The job was Cannan's until LegCo block voted for Quayle. Manx democracy eh...

No it wasn't.  It was split 12-9-3 in the Keys and I've no doubt that Quayle would have managed to scrape an extra vote eventually even without LegCo backing.  Not that I would have think it made much difference in any case.  Cannan would have been less embarrassing, but just as malleable.
