Manximus Aururaneus
I see that another statue in Bristol was vandalised yesterday - this time a statue of a black actor / poet who died in 1987 covered in corrosive liquid - but this one Bristol police are investigating as 'criminal damage'??? This thing gets sillier by the day and will not end well. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-53011774

I like the Phil Lynott statue in Grafton Street. A rich black Irishman should always be remembered. If you read his autobiography he came from nothing. Not the nicest bloke in the world but he achieved a lot given his background. In fact his struggles beat the trend and reinforce aspects of this current movement. But he still died a junkie. pongo
Statues are nearly as weird as flags. And let's be honest, everyone with any sense of class knows that flags are dumb.

What are we supposed to do with them? Its a good question. Plant a tree instead. Get some London Planes planted. Great trees.

Not really I would bet he’s laughing at it being there given his background.

Kopek
The royal standard ??? You bloody comeovers, you come over here to avoid your own countries taxes, have your babies on 'our' NHS, sign on to 'our' job seekers and you want your monarchies flags to be recognised in this foreign ( to you ) country? There's a boat in the morning Bouy!!! Edited June 12, 2020 by Kopek 1

It's like a dog marking their territory except that, rather than pee, humans use silly symbols. What matters is the thing, the actual thing. Not a thing which represents a thing. PS - and who decided everyone needed a flag or a dumb logo? Why did everyone else copy each other and decide they want one too? Why not get something else instead? But before media and social media in general the only reminder to say you actually existed as a so-called important person was a public statue. pongo
The dumbest thing was in the north of Ireland where every tree or kerbstone was owned.
