I would imagine most of their news output is gleaned from this site.

Or this one:

https://www.gov.im/news/news list

Actually they normally seem to get sent stuff directly ahead of time, but it often - and should - appears on that as well.  But an amazingly high percentage of their 'stories' are just taken from press releases either neat or cut down.  In which case you need to check that they've not missed the important bits out.

To be fair, if anything the online coverage has improved quite a lot since Glover went and Espy took over and stuff isn't cut down to the same one-size-fits-all five paragraph formula, no matter how important or complex the story is (or not).

Half the newsreaders stumble over reading the script live on air. They only have to do it once an hour and mostly it's a repeat of the previous bulleen anyway. So why not practise in a quiet corner somewhere, it's embarrassing for the so called Nations Station.

Basically the £1m subvention covers the £1m salary bill at MR. Tells you all you need to know about the organisation. Maybe we ought to defund MR over a 5 year time frame by reducing the subvention by 20% a year.

Move them to small modern studio in an office space in town, put archives into secure storage and sell off the site on Douglas Head to developers.

If they need to 'see' whats going on arounf the bay give them a few HD webcams at the Sea Terminal.

Oh and while they are at it Government ought to be tendering the advertising for all commercial public adverts such as Railways & Gaeity etc. so we get value for money. If they aren't already.

Those bulleens don’t read themselves you know! Funny in a thread about avoidable mistakes…

You can, perhaps, forgive whoever posted and headlined the item, but the successive presenters who read it out?

Listening again to the CofC interview was the source of the error clear.  I thought it may have been a new economic theory, but just bad terminology.

ETA Apologies to MR!

It's an odd choice of words. The Island's employers are saying wages should stagnate - of course they think that until nobody can afford to use their business. But it's unusual for them to be so blunt.

Strange that employees want the wages of the people who do the work to 'stagnate'.

I wonder if they will be stagnating their own pay.

The Chamber of Commerce person is not referring to companies that have living wage earners as customers.

She is referring to companies which employ living wage earners to provide a service to people who earn more than the living wage.

The theory is that living wage earners should be grateful for the opportunity to earn less than the living wage.

The bulletins could/should all be read using AI these days.

How about Phil's voice drawling and squeaking every word for 24 hours a day. Or indeed anyone's voice. I suppose the day will come when we can make our own choice of who reads the news and in what mood.
