To be fair to Alf, he handled that one ok, saying he would have to "dodge your first question about what is coming out of the back of aircraft engines......probably best directed at a specialist"

ADELE
My understanding of the proposal is that vehicles of the measurements quoted will not be allowed to park overnight in speed restricted areas so unless you are having the plumber on a sleep over you should be ok. Local authorities have been invited to identify any areas they do not want to be covered by the regulations, I presume so business parks and any other areas they are content with to have larger vehicles parked at weekends and overnight could be excluded from this act. NoTail
Your plumber would not be allowed to park on a Saturday or Sunday at any time. So your broken boiler would have to wait until Monday.

NoTail
I know I shouldn't listen to mannin line but I can't help myself. There is some pillock who loves conspiracy theory. His current problem is something to do with con-trails. Before he thought that "they" were out to get us by injecting us against a false disease which was just a cold. I think that Mannin Line could be good but it is blocked by nonsense.
Barlow
A lot of the nonsense comes from the presenter. 3

They should not answer when the looney rings. I think they would love to do that. Trouble is, if they didn't answer when the loonies ring, there would be no callers and therefore no show. Shake me up Judy
Some days I think it's pretty good but a longer form show in the evenings with music, guests and an open line would be more successful. Stu attempted something along those lines but he was hobbled by the limitations put upon him.

It's always been like that. Manx Radio has been running for nearly 60 years and nearly all that time it's had a midday phone-in and it's always been dominated by the obsessed and those fond of the sound of their own voice (including the presenters of course). Part of the reason is obvious from that description - those sort of people are the most likely to ring and think the listeners ought to hear what they have to say. And if there's no one else available they're likely to be broadcast. And if they aren't they'll be the first and loudest making a fuss about 'censorship'. (Look how it's the most prolific posters on MF at any time who are most likely to believe they are being suppressed). There also develops a sort of Gresham's Law where people who could make useful and constructive contributions become reluctant to participate simply because the sort of person who normally does is seen as a loony. You can get round this by having such people on as guests, but that will only really apply to those who have some sort of official position. Ordinary people who might have something to say will only contribute when it's something they feel particularly passionate about, if then. 1

Stu was hobbled by persons with a mis-placed sense of entitlement. I wonder are they fucking happy with themselves now?* *rhetorical question as their ignorance ultimately resulted in the presenter being shown a good deal of support, which was transferred to the general election polling booth. 1
Sentience
Today's, July 31 2023 Mannin line. Talking to the Health Minister, why in Gods name spend almost 10 minutes of airtime with a caller addressing Hooper about the 'Crogga' situation. He's the HEALTH minister!! AND NOW, AT 12:37 RAILWAYS AND HORSETRAMS You couldn't make this up. Edited July 31, 2023 by Sentience

ANYTHING to avoid talking about DHSC/Manx Care, Ranson, Magson, Abbotswood, Paul Moulton and the clumsy attempt at muzzling the press, nurses strikes, pay and conditions, etc, etc, etc
