Is It Worth Having Charity Accounts Audited?

Douglas Corporation is the trustee of five registered charities

The Allsop Trust

The Percy Neville Trust

The Samuael Norris (Prison) Trust

The Samuel Norris (Political) Trust

The J K Ward Trust

which between them hold £3,485 and which ratepayers pay to have KPMG LLC audit....

Does anyone know what these trusts are all about and why should they continue as an expense of teh ratepayers???

Ask the General Registry what they are about and also advise why these trusts are continuing at the expense of the Douglas ratepayer. Your question isn't expanded in your post, so yet again, we have no idea what this is all about.

Charity funds have in the past been vehicles for potential corruption (though not necessarily here) - so I would say yes to auditing.

However, perhaps large auditors should take into account that these are charities when they put together their bills. They would probably get some free publicity.

Perhaps the auditors charge a minimal amount.

It would be up to the Corporation to apply to the High Court if the charities were to be wound up.
