Albert Tatlock
The message board has doubled in posts just today so the advert has done some good. Just draughting some new text for the front page for refreshments sake Do you work for the Government? A 100% increase sounds significant - (but in 10 posts it really isn't). This isn't a reflection on you it's the time it takes for these things to pervade through the web. Days to go...Let's all do some door knocking and sort this once and for all! Radio...lots of fuss...radio...letters to the papers...radio etc. And cos the pro speed limit advertising campaign was kyboshed by the communications commission - a couple of politicians denouncing the government's one-sided anonymous leafleting campaign. teapot
Lisner saidScans for those not here with us: Thanks lisner, even if it makes us sound as though we're dead! I might copy vinnieK and sneak back too. Before masses of speed limits are introduced, I think that the police should use the laws already available to them and deal with all drivers using handheld mobile phones all drivers & passengers refusing to wear seatbelts check for those driving whilst afftected by drink or drugs check that vehicles are in a safe condition stop drunks staggering into the roads at weekends and fully apply the existing speed limits Then look to see if there' any improvement. I really would be interested to see the accident make-up of driver's ages, genders, seatbelts worn etc, etc. Where's the evidence upon which to give an opinion? Personally, I am totally sick of having the rights of the many eroded by the antics of the idiotic few. Women are advised not go out alone because a few men can't control themselves. Ditto children are judged not to be safe playing outside any more We have to lock ourselves in to be safe from the troublesome few who should be locked up. Am I alone? NO - very good post!!! Totally agree with all you say here.
Theskeat
I would like to know how many Locals have been booked for speeding in the last year. How many are R plate drivers,How many are taxis, how many are commercials and how many are bikes. Im against speed limits, but you have to have them in the right places and if the limit is exceeded then the law has been broken and the courts should deal with it. Ripsaw
They brought in new speed limits for HomeZones. Homezones are places where a car can do more damage to other people and their property as opposed to the Mountain Road (amongst other places) where the odds are in favour of only hurting yourself. Enforcent results to date?
