manxchatterbox
O'Ceidigh to step aside as Aer Arann ceo Tuesday, April 18 08:21:57 Aer Arann founder Padraig O'Ceidigh is to step down as chief executive of the airline next month. He says that a shortlist of three candidates has been drawn up for the job and a successor will be named towards the end of May. O'Ceidigh himself will take on the role of executive chairman at the fast growing airline. Its non executive chairman is currently former Bank of Ireland finance director Paul D'Alton, who will remain on the board. O'Ceidigh describes himself as a "very entrepreneurial kind of guy" but says that a "different mindset" would help bring the carrier to a different level. Aer Arann already has a fleet of 12 planes and is finalising a 150m euro order for further aircraft. Hope they don't over expand too quickly... sarahc
I should think that unlikely. They get a lot of cash from the Irish government and are used as public transport, because there are no decent trains in Ireland.
robbieh
They're not just an Irish Airline and certainly not an IoM airline. They are opening routes from the Uk to mainland Europe etc. I'd also imagine these planes would be replacements for the current second hand fleet. They've been around around 10 years so expansion hasn't been that fast certainly not like EM tried in such short time before cutting planes and expansion. I see EM have just rejected the lease on a new aircraft. Was painted and ready for delivery and now gone elsewhere
