manxchatterbox
MR did a piece earlier in the week about Bowl Cancer awareness month... The Public Health directorate is continuing to promote understanding of bowel cancer. April is bowel cancer awareness month and the DHSS is encouraging anybody who has trouble with their bowels to see their GP. On today’s Talking Heads programme on Manx Radio DHSS spokesperson Anita Imberger said the aim of the latest campaign was to make people feel less embarrassed about that part of their body. ....surely it would be better to be pro-active and for the IOM to have some sort of screening service..... as from the Commons Hansard:- Bowel Cancer Ms Rosie Winterton: The Government have stated their commitment to a national bowel cancer screening programme, for which funding has been agreed. manxchatterbox
do local firms that offer PMI to the employees make provision for them to have free Bowel Cancer and other screening services??
Albert Tatlock
Apparently the best way to test for it is 'feel for something like a mushroom', by 'sticking your thumb up your bum'. I think this is well understood, as most Manx employees, many in PMI schemes, have had their thumb up their arse for years.
manxchatterbox
er what sort of mushroom are we talking about here?? small button mushrooms ?? surely and hopefully not some big field mushroom or giant puff ball?? and hedgehog fungus sounds painful to start with...but horn of plenty or a shaggy ink cap or some delicious chanterelles...hopefully not a big horse mushroom..... Albert Tatlock
An 'arse mushroom' I spose It is a way to test actually - see Cancer Research UK, though I would advise you should be wary if anyone in a pub offers to do it for you.
