Lonan3
I was very sad to hear about the death of Freddie Garrity - of 'Freddie & The Dreamers' fame - at the age of 65. I remember him playing golf on the Pulrose course in the early morning - still full of fun and happy to talk to anyone even though he'd played his energetic routines the night before at the Crescent Pavilion. I remember him running into a fruit and veg shop in Castle Street and begging sanctuary (he was being pursued by a horde of screaming teenage girls). Although I worked there, I wasn't able to get in until the crowd of fans had dispersed (the assistant on duty - now our first deemster - had locked the doors for Freddie's protection). I remember him just a few years ago performing at the Villa Marina - and sitting on the edge of the stage afterwards - when the other artists had left - happy to talk to anyone and to sign whatever bits of memorabilia were offered to him. He was a genuinely nice guy. R.I.P.
