Gavsta
I did post about this last week. 200 bikes turned up today and it was a great ride. I managed to be the one behind the police escort, which was nice, although the pace was, well, lesuirly. Got a new T shirt and a free radio too! THRILLER
I was watching from outside the Railway inn (Union Mills), Its started off well but the bikes started to appear in 1minute gaps. I also saw the Emergancy vehicles go past and the first thing i thought of was the bikers, must have been some accident.
slinkydevil
200 bikes turned up today 122 bikes turned up today. I came across the accident on the Peel road at about 3.30pm and had to turn round and go through Foxdale. It was still closed when I came back through at 9.00pm - pretty serious. Kerry Gascoigne on MR was interviewing the Ride for Life bikers at the grandstand, after arriving there herself from the ride, whilst the accident happened - so I doubt it was one of the RFL group riders that was involved. Bad news either way though.
Broadcaster
Just spotted this on Energy FM's website: Motorcyclist killed in road crash Last Updated:30/07/2006 22:53:49 A motorcyclist has died in a multiple vehicle road accident near Ballacraine. The A1 was closed for around 5 hours this afternoon whilst services dealt with the crash. It happened at about 3pm when two motorcyclists collided with queuing traffic on the approach to Ballacraine traffic lights. A black Honda Firestorm ridden by a Douglas man and a red Honda Blackbird ridden by a visiting rider from Peterborough, were involved although at this stage police haven't indicated which rider has lost his life. They are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling on the A1 around this time
