The Legend
First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong section. Right, just bought a new Sony Ericsson W300i mobile. Got my manx telecom Pay as You Go sim card in it. Managed to get Picture messaging/MMS working, but cant get WAP to work. Tried ringing MT but they keep sending me the GPRS settings, which of course are no good on PAYG. I need the Dial Up settings. Can anyone help me with settings that will work. Many thanks one and all!
Manxman27
the best thing to do is click here Choose your phone from the list. Click setup phone for internet. Choose Manx Telecom Prepay WEB from the dropdown list. Enter the strange characters. Enter your phone number +4407624XXXXXX Click submit, you will then get a PIN. when you receive the text message and when it says New Settings received Install? choose yes and enter the pin. You should then be able to use wap.
Jacqueline
Best of luck. My phone has been in the shop for a week getting the settings 'sorted'. Went to pick it up last week to be told that WAP access on pay as you go is not possible - only to download ringtones. Not quite sure why it took them a week to find out and tell me - but there you go. :/

Jacqueline
So it is possible to use WAP on Pay as You GO? I'm really confused now. The manager at the MT shop insisted it was not possible. *scratches head*
immortalpuppet
WAP using GPRS is very restricted (on PAYG this is) WAP on GSM is available and always has been, although its very slow it will allow the phone to surf the mobile web, if the handset supports it. What phone are you having trouble with?

immortalpuppet
Go to the Services application Select Options Settings, and with "Default access point" selected, press 'Options' and select 'Change' Select Options 'New access point' > 'Use default settings' Connection name Dial up Data bearer Data call / GSM Dial-up number 147008706241144 Access point name - User name manx password manx prompt Password no Authentication Normal Data call type ISDN v.110 Maximum data speed 9600 Now the next bit might be a bit tricky as i have never played with a 6600 but it should ask about proxy servers, MT payg dont work off proxy servers so disable them. Try that for now and let me know how you get on.
