Frances
Just came back from Douglas and I'm sure I saw two notices saying the Mountain road was also closed from 14th to the 18th - it was a rear view (don't recall the notices there earlier in day) so couldn't take in the times. macks
I think its closed so they can paint the road markings. There has been a rolling road closure round the course for the last week or so i think. Apparrently the mountain has to be closed because of the speed and road layout.
Amadeus
Could it be this one? A18 SNAEFELL MOUNTAIN ROAD (RAMSEY/MAUGHOLD/LEZAYRE/LONAN) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2006 The Department gives notice that under Section 3 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1985 it has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit the use to through vehicular traffic of that section of the A18 Snaefell Mountain Road in the town of Ramsey and parishes of Maughold, Lezayre and Lonan, between its junction with Barrule Park, Ramsey and its junction with the A14 Sulby Glen Road, Lezayre. The Order comes into effect from 9.30am to 4.00pm each day from Monday 14 August 2006 until Thursday 17 August 2006 or until the carriageway marking work is completed, whichever is the earlier. Buses will be escorted through the works. An alternative route will be via the A3 Ramsey to Castletown Road or the A2 Ramsey to Douglas Road. This Order prohibits vehicular traffic from proceeding on a section of the A18 Snaefell Mountain Road in the town of Ramsey and parishes of Maughold, Lezayre and Lonan, whilst carriageway marking work is being undertaken. The Agitator
bloody mgp keeping the roads closed - it was murder trying to get home last night. travelling from Onchan to Douglas should not take that long - why are they allowed to keep the roads shut - 5pm should be the latest - or they should cut races short. I think you'll find they could of kept them shut until 8.30pm. So count yourself a lucky troll and stop whinging and whineing like a girl.
Declan
Yeah Central Douglas did turn into a car park. TBH, although I gain nothing from the MGP, I think it is a case of stuff happens. You've got to expect occasional times where getting home from work is delayed, whether its the TT, MGP, or something else. Relax, and go with the flow. Biker
I got a SMS from Energy radio advising of the problems and the times of opening times on the crossing points and the race starts. It was realy handy as the place I was working at insisted on listening to 3fm, who did not seem to know the races were on as they never mentioned it !!! It will be interesting to see if Energy send out other messages about road problems, bad weather etc

sarahc
The roads wouldn't have been shut for so long if it hadn't been for that non-racing crash.
Amadeus
Well, it's over now - enough time to recover from that awful traffic nightmare.. (remembers driving through Berlin/Paris/London and smiles...)
WilDDog
The roads wouldn't have been shut for so long if it hadn't been for that non-racing crash. Exactly, they'd have been open three and a half hours earlier and as Declan said I think it is a case of stuff happens. You've got to expect occasional times where getting home from work is delayed, whether its the TT, MGP, or something else.
