TVR closes factory after mix-up

LUXURY car maker TVR today admitted a management "failure" had led to the temporary closure of its Blackpool factory. Workers returned from annual holiday on Monday to find a shortage of parts meant no cars could be built.

The 210 production-line staff, who had just enjoyed two weeks leave, were then sent home on full pay and told to return to work next week. Adriana Sanchiz, marketing co-ordinator for TVR, said: "A failure in certain departments has resulted in a shortage of parts on the production line this week.

"To compensate for this error, the company has decided to give production staff an extra three days of paid holidays.

"Sorry, Sir - you're car isn't ready yet because..er..we forgot..." :)

Blimey, management that poor are so hard to find, perhaps the IOM gov should sign them up now for future projects in the pipeline, in the meantime they could be employed in our business school, how long before they are bailed out again?

I worked in TVR during an engineering course at Uni ... purely and simply the most chaotic badly organized company imaginable ... they'd built a load of customed cars for a Saudi Prince ... he came back wanting more ... "Erm ... we can't remember what we made - sorry - how about we give you this" ... paper work would just get lost behind filing cabinets ... they were supreme engineers and technicians, but just were not interested in systems or routines, hence the Chaos ... its still a very common failing with British engineering!
