Dr Gonzo
They do have a match now, fortuantely: but not from the Island. Still, it's a good wake-up call for people to go donate blood / carry donor cards / etc.
Gladys
Good news! Will they be able to use the date they have collected in this exercise in their database for future matches?
Dr Gonzo
Errr... don't know! I'd hope so too but I've really no idea. Strange, I changed the address on my driving licence this week, having forgotten about it for ages, and I actually read the paper bit. On it, it says I'd agreed any bit of my worn-out body could be used for almost any purpose after my death... I didn't remember filling this in on a form. Is that by default or is my short-term memory dead?
Minxie
Good news! Will they be able to use the date they have collected in this exercise in their database for future matches? Anybody who went along and gave their blood sample will go on the Anthony Nolan register and therefore could be matched up to somebody else. Although I did hear the nurse saying it's something like a 1 in 1,000 chance of being a match.
Mission
1 in 1,000 isn't bad odds at all - well worth it imo. They could have more flexible hours in future though - not all of us work in Douglas or have Saturday's off. After hours / Sunday clinics would be useful too for those that have to travel further or don't work a standard 9-5, Mon-Fri in Douglas.
