manxchatterbox
have heard ING (??) bank represenatatives have been in touch with IOM plc and are looking into the pros and cons of setting up over here to expand their offshore services Jersey being too restricted and have been eyeing the site on Peel Road next to PWC as a site for a presigious office block...or buying the old Coutts site in Onchan... http://www.ingprivatebanking.com/index.html ....its about time there was a new international bank on the Island.... So that's why I was confused you were talking about CIRCULAR Road not Peel Road at all. I thought you meant Peel Road next to PKF and got the company wrong. But you got the road wrong instead. Once again MCB what a talent you have for getting little right in anything you post. (By the way ING bought Barings who incidentally had a fund and trust office here on Athol Street for years before it was bought by Northern Trust). manxchatterbox
and Standerd Chartered had an office/branch on Athol Street where Britannia is now and before it was Standerd Chartered wasn't it Julian Hodge Bank?? But then Standered Chartered closed down and moved out but now it wants to get back into HNW Private Banking.....

They just closed down the office here. They still do HNW Private banking ... just not from here. If it wants to get back in, does it have to do it from here. No.
manxchatterbox
the point is how come taxis drivers know more than what we ever get to hear from reporters who's job it presumably is to get such types of stories out to the public....such as, who have IOM Finance/DTI been hosting/and talking to about setting up over here?? why is all that so "hush hush" surely better to say then it might encourage others to set up if its public knowledge taht so and so firm is interested...
