A new T.T. logo, commercial contracts, and the latest developments in the centenary race and events programmes will be announced in Birmingham on Thursday.

The Department of Tourism is holding a press conference at the N.E.C. ahead of the Motorcycle and Scooter Show.

Several top riders will be at the media briefing, as well as supporting the Manx stand at the exhibition.

They include absolute lap record holder John McGuinness, Ian Hutchinson, Guy Martin and Ian Lougher.

A New TT Logo - Manx Radio Report

Amongst the firms winning work for the festival are Motorsport Merchandise Ltd, which has the contract to be the official TT races merchandise supplier for the next three years.

Signature Sponsorship ( IoM) is handling sponsorship, commercial and licensing contracts.

Suzuki Great Britain is to produce an exclusive limited edition range of GSX-R motorbikes to celebrate 100 years of TT racing.

The Isle of Man Post Office is producing a range of stamps, Isle of Man Treasury coins and merchandise.

Motorsport Merchandise Ltd - I am unable to find details for on Internet but I'm sure they are ok.

It looks like the IoM TT is entering the big, big world of business and marketing or at least trying to.

Our house has a number of regular TT visitors. There is quite a fine line between what attracts them each year to the TT and what disgusts them.

They complain about being 'ripped off' by the Steam Packet, burger vans, beer sellers etc. but when the TT tries to officialise the big rip-off machine then I worry for the future of the TT.

Wow! I can see how that would have taken at least 15 minutes to think up.

A bit pathetic, and very little reference to the 100th TT IMHO. A lot of stuff with this on will be collectors items in a few years.

I think it's a pretty good logo, updates the old one that has been around for quite some time (I remember it as a kid so it's at least early 90's). It's simple enough , I've just tried to draw it from memory to see if I could do it after a brief glance at it and I've got it pretty much spot on (although my attempt at the 3 legs leaves a lot to be desired).

I don't think it's a specific logo for the centenary but more an update of the logo to run for the next 10 years. Okay it probably didn't take months to create but some of the most recognisable logo's in the world were made in minutes. Nike's swoosh, for example, was done in half an hour and the artist received $35 for it!

Just to finish off a happy little story:

"But the Swoosh creator didn't just ride off into the sunset. Davidson got a telephone call one day in September 1983, inviting her to have lunch and touch base again with a few of the people she used to work with at Nike, including Knight. When she arrived, much to her surprise, she was greeted with a catered lunch and was presented with a gold Swoosh ring embedded with a diamond. She also received a certificate from Knight and an envelope containing Nike stock.

How much stock remains a secret between Knight and her. "The stock has split three times since I received it, so I can definitely say that I have been well compensated for my design," she says. "You must remember too, that this was something rather special for Phil to do, because I originally billed him and he paid that invoice."

Davidson still lives in Portland, Oregon. She's married, the mother of two grown sons and a proud grandmother. She retired from graphic design after 29 years and is now pursuing varied interests and doing the volunteer work that she couldn't do while running her one-woman business and raising her family. One day a week you will find her at one of her favorite places to volunteer, the Ronald McDonald House at Emanuel Hospital."

Yeah but that doesn't sound as cool :P It wasn't an anti-Nike comment, it was just pointing out that logo's are rarely that expensive to make so if this TT one cost thousands of pounds then they've been robbed.

Remind me again how much the BP logo cost (the current one that is)?

It was some stupid amount of money iirc.

I actually got to see the new TT logo and the new 3 legs logo several weeks back.

EDIT: Oh and yes, Muzzer doing the commentary for the races would be most excellent. :)

Im sure we'll (Honda Racing) be doing something big for it ... I'll just have to find out from the powers that be :D

I must admit though having grown up in the IOM and seeing the TT change over the years it does seem to the same old thing each year!!!

I miss the old Bushy's and the fun fair (when it was in Nobles Park) :(
