AlexMcC
The Steam Packet's new timetable seems to show that there will be 2 fast craft next year (As I understand 2 new charters). Here is an extract from the timetable. Thank god Dublin/Belfast are now day sailings and now one every day bar Tuesday. Even though this doesn't show LPOOL - IOM daytrips on Sat there are a few scattered through the year. The mid afternoon sailing allows us locals a decent time to come back now on Saturday. Monday IOM - LPOOL 07:30 ARRIVE 10:00 LPOOL - IOM 11:15 ARRIVE 13:45 IOM - LPOOL 15:00 ARRIVE 17:30 LPOOL - IOM 19:00 ARRIVE 21:30 IOM - BFAST 15:30 ARRIVE 18:00 BFAST - IOM 19:15 ARRIVE 21:45 Tuesday IOM - LPOOL 07:30 ARRIVE 10:00 LPOOL - IOM 11:15 ARRIVE 13:45 IOM - LPOOL 15:00 ARRIVE 17:30 LPOOL - IOM 19:00 ARRIVE 21:30 Wednesday IOM - LPOOL 07:30 ARRIVE 10:00 LPOOL - IOM 11:15 ARRIVE 13:45 IOM - LPOOL 15:00 ARRIVE 17:30 LPOOL - IOM 19:00 ARRIVE 21:30 IOM - BFAST 15:30 ARRIVE 18:00 BFAST - IOM 19:15 ARRIVE 21:45 Thursday IOM - LPOOL 07:30 ARRIVE 10:00 LPOOL - IOM 11:15 ARRIVE 13:45 IOM - LPOOL 15:00 ARRIVE 17:30 LPOOL - IOM 19:00 ARRIVE 21:30 IOM - DUBLIN 15:30 ARRIVE 18:00 DUBLIN - IOM 19:15 ARRIVE 21:45 Friday IOM - LPOOL 07:30 ARRIVE 10:00 LPOOL - IOM 11:15 ARRIVE 13:45 IOM - BFAST 09:30 ARRIVE 12:00 BFAST - IOM 13:30 ARRIVE 16:00 IOM - LPOOL 15:00 ARRIVE 17:30 LPOOL - IOM 19:00 ARRIVE 21:30 Saturday IOM - LPOOL 07:30 ARRIVE 10:00 LPOOL - IOM 11:15 ARRIVE 13:45 IOM - DUBLIN 09:30 ARRIVE 12:00 DUBLIN - IOM 13:30 ARRIVE 16:00 IOM - LPOOL 15:00 ARRIVE 17:30 LPOOL - IOM 19:00 ARRIVE 21:30 Sunday IOM - BFAST 07:00 ARRIVE 09:30 BFAST - IOM 10:45 ARRIVE 13:15 IOM - LPOOL 15:00 ARRIVE 17:30 LPOOL - IOM 19:00 ARRIVE 21:30 IOM - LPOOL 17:45 ARRIVE 20:15 LPOOL - IOM 21:15 ARRIVE 23:

Skig
What makes you think that they will charter another two vessels? Love it or hate it, the Spco have got the SSC2 on charter for another 4 years, and they cannot get around that. Once they have repaired the knackered gearbox they are hardly likely to leave her tied up in Birkenhead for 4 years. They tried to sell Sea Express 1 earlier this year, without success, so spent quite a few bob on her to smarten her up and bring her back into service. Perhaps they have seen the error of their ways, and instead of flogging one vessel to death with 3 round trips a day, only to see it fail under the strain, they will have SE1 & SSC2 covering the fastcraft sailings between them. John Wright
Shame the web site has no sailings between now and March 2007 listed!

Seacontainers is on the verge of collapse, it wouldn't surprise me if they took SSC2 back to sell it for quick cash if they could, the SPC wouldn't be bothered either if they had a replacement. 2 chartered fast craft of the same type would be easier to maintain I think. SE1 is owned by a subsidy of Macbank now as well, and I don't think they took the option to bring her back to service unless they really had too..... Don't allow Bus Spotter Luxton to influence your views. Luxton doesn't have a clue he knew nothing about the Island's shipping until Sea CON, he was too busy collecting bus numbers. Now he seems to speak in a strange third party way as "your webmaster". Ignore anoraks is my best advice. Currently our sea services are under the control of profit merchants a trend started by the now defunct SeaCON, the chances of improvement, with the turkeys we have in our government are negligible. Face facts, SSC2, Sea Express and Ben My Chree are the best we can hope for, unless of course McQuarrie decide to really carry on with the asset stripping and sell the Ben and lease a ship instead. The cutting edge of ferry services once was a reality, with the original IOMSPCoLtd, now it's a fantasy.
Lonan3
If we're discussing the IoM SP Timetable, shouldn't it really be in the 'Books & Writing' section for the lovers of fiction to enjoy?

According to todays "Examiner" SS2 & SE1 will be plying the routes in 2007. Lets hope we get a better service than 2006.
