Amadeus
Has the new layout at Bank Hill finally proven to be too "hazardous" for the average motorist, or is that just temporary?
John Wright
Just adding a high coefficient of friction topping to ensure better braking, wet or dry. Its also being done at Fort North

Skig
It's like fine gravel - not sure how much of that will still be there after the rain.. Have they put it down with the same smelly resin that they used on the TT course between Signpost & Governors? The smell lasted for ages.

Declan
Anyone know what the thinking behind the "ramp" on Kewaigue Road is? Seems to slow the traffic at rush hour considerably as everyone takes it easy over there. Was it not possible to find a more tapered one?

Cholmondley-Warner
Not 100% certain but I think this surface is known as Shellgrip, see below: The term ANTI SKID SURFACING is usually taken to mean the road surface treatments that include CALCINED BAUXITE as the high PSV aggregate, and a resin rather than bitumen to hold the aggregate to the road surface. It is generally recognised that ANTI SKID SURFACING should have a minimum SKID RESISTANCE VALUE (SRV) of 70. There are two main types of anti skid (high friction) surfacing:- Cold applied processes such as "Shellgrip" and similar named processes, using epoxy resin, or increasingly a polyurethane resin, these are thermosetting resins. They are supplied as separate components that when mixed together undergo a chemical reaction producing some heat and setting hard after a number of hours. The term "Shellgrip" is often used to describe all high friction surfacings, so be very careful when using this term in its broad meaning. The second type of surface treatment is a hot applied process. The CALCINED BAUXITE and the resin (in granular form) are supplied premixed in poly bags, the resin in this case is a thermoplastic resin, so the material is heated in a boiler and screeded out onto the road surface whilst it is hot, using a 300mm. wide bottomless "shoe". Albert Tatlock
Is that snow? Cos there's loads of advocates based around there - I thought it was 'evil ooze' - ya know - like on Ghostbusters.

Tuna Sandwich
Has the new layout at Bank Hill finally proven to be too "hazardous" for the average motorist, or is that just temporary? I believe that junction and the situation with the adjacent round about is the most dangerous piece of road on the island right now, especially with the tyre and exhaust place, bus depot, Tesco and varous car parks. It is horrendous. Why has the DOT not sent someone down to assess it? A round about should be put at the bottom of bank hill, URGENTLY!!!
