momo65
To quote Manx Radio "It's hoped a St. John Ambulance First Responser Unit will soon be in operation in Ramsey. Neighbourhood schemes provide volunteers who are trained to attend certain emergency calls within minutes, ahead of the statutory services" The idea really relates to those situations where someone collapses and may benefit from being defibrillated. There are many times that someone local can reach the victim before an ambulance can. In such situations the actions of volunteers is potentially life saving. First responders are on-call on a rota basis If you live in Ramsey and would be interested in helping we would be delighted to hear from you. All necessary training will be given, and you would not need any commitment to St John Ambulance beyond your participation. This is a joint project with the ambulance service, who are committed to the idea. It's been up and running in Peel for some months. Ramsey Commissioners are keen to support the scheme. If you live in Ramsey and are interested in helping please PM me or email CEO@sja.org.im.
