TerryMcCann
Don't think an act has even been passed yet so I would expect it to be a while. May even be a selling point for tourists. Come to the Isle of Man, lovely fresh air outside, lovely smoky carcinogenic air inside. Mmmmmmmmm

nipper
Smoking ban. Nahh, not enough cheap gimmickry involved. I don't know when the ban might come in but I believe our forward thinking and progressive Government have given the vote to 16 year olds though. DjDan
I'd like to know when they're planning on banning £1 notes - fucking nusience they are! They're not. Actually, they plan to increase their number! Which I feel is a good thing... a lot lighter than those £1 coins. Oh, then there's my Manx pride too!! £1 notes forever! matty
Banned/Banning Smoking in Public Places: Scotland - March 2006 Guernsey - July 2006 Jersey - 2nd January 2007 Wales - 2nd April 2007 Northern Ireland - 2nd April 2007 England - 1st July 2007 (probable) Isle of Man?? Isle of Man - never (hopefully), we could resurrect what's left of the tourist industry then. Can see the slogan now.... "Have a break from fascism, come to the Isle of Man". We could be the last bastion of freedom in the British Isles!
Declan
Banned/Banning Smoking in Public Places: Scotland - March 2006 Guernsey - July 2006 Jersey - 2nd January 2007 Wales - 2nd April 2007 Northern Ireland - 2nd April 2007 England - 1st July 2007 (probable) Isle of Man?? Let's hope they do it in the summer. Give us a chance to quit or get used to it before the bad weather kicks in. Week after TT would probably be best. lard
The Public Health (Tobacco) Bill 2006 has made its successfull passage through the Keys and Legislative Council (who suspended Standing Orders to get a couple of readings through in the same sitting). The Bill was signed up at the October 16th 2006 meeting of Tynwald before dissolution and is awaiting (or has got?) Royal Assent.
