ccm
Manx Radio's current affairs flagship Mandate at 7.30 seems to have less and less Manx current affairs in it 7.30 Start 7.32 Headlines/weather 7.36 FIRST item - 4 mins 7.40 Manx Sport 7.45 The same headlines you got 10 mins before 7.47 English news item 7.50 Finance 7.55 SECOND item 8.00 News/weather - the same headline you have got before but with a few bits of audio 8.15 THIRD item 8.20 FORTH item 8.25 UK sport & newspapers Would it not be better to just have half an hout of current affairs? It all went downhill after David Callister handed over the reins. It was purely Manx then, when he left it was filled with stuff from the UK BTW anyone got the link to that fantastic David Callister Time to Remember Yes, Yes, Yes interview? copycat
I agree with the last poster cctv or whoever. It was ok when David Callister did it but recently its got worser and worserer. Its almost as though it was trying to be a BBC Local Radio Station putting out more and more news feed stories from wherever they come from. Surely there is some editorial control. Maybe that is the problem. If there isn't maybe that's why its as it is?
Robin Hood
Simple, there are three options for Manx Radio, none of which are its current status: 1. Privatise it 2. Nationalise it 3. Shut it down.
Lonan3
Simple, there are three options for Manx Radio, none of which are its current status: 1. Privatise it 2. Nationalise it 3. Shut it down. Voted 'None of the above.' Manx Radio does a pretty decent job. No one claims that its perfect. The Mandate programme is a kind of news/magazine that attempts to deal with both news and the background to news. At the same time, it has to be presented in a way that entertains in order to engage its listeners. Its not an easy task - and one that none of our other local stations even attempt to fulfil. There's always room for improvement, and I'm sure the staff at the station would welcome constructive criticism and even fresh ideas. Simply sitting back and criticising is the sign of a lazy intellect.
