The man wasn't quite a saint I don't think but he sho was a fonky bastard, and an inspiration to many. Always sort of hoped I'd get to see him on stage one day but alas no. Despite all the drink and drugs and crap at the end of the day he brought out some really good music that (in my mid 20's) a lot of my friends are surprised to hear me listen to. Just watching him and his band perform live on the tv was a treat and to not see anymore or have the chance to go and see him perform is very saddening.
