DjDan Posted January 17, 2007 Share Posted January 17, 2007 Reported from energy FM, cash has ben stolen from the Foreign Bureau on strand st. last night at 5:15pm. Two men in their early 20's were involved, one white, one darker skinned. Apparently one distracted the staff, while the other took the cash, though no violence was used. Police will present CCTV footage on their website later today. Staff gave a good description of the two men, and I assume they will be fairly easy to identify. Strand St. isn't empty at 5:15pm! and I'm sure would have seen the men run off. No information has yet been released onto Energy's website, or iomonline.. but this report has just come over the radio.. and so I'm sure, more clarity will be given! Details released by police so far are sketchy. They say a theft of money took place from a Thomas Cook foreign exchange premises in Strand Street at about 4.45pm yesterday. No details of the amount of money have yet been released, other than it was a 'large amount' of cash. Two men carried out the theft using 'distraction techniques'. One is described as white, European, of stocky build with short, dyed brown hair, aged about 20. He was wearing blue jeans, a black, 'leather-style' jacket', a black top and distinctive 'patent-style' flat shoes. The second was a dark-skinned European, about five feet six inches high, slim, with short, black hair, aged about 20, and wearing a 'distinctive' brown jacket and dark jeans. Both men were described as having foreign accents. Anyone with information should contact a police officer, the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 or police headquarters on 631212.
