To be honest i dont really like to stay in the outback all nigfht, the shots are really nice but theres only on enterance which is also the only exit as far as i am aware! I notice this kinda thing when i am sober at the start of the night!

There's another exit to the building at the rear. Clearly you don't notice enough.

Maybe he was never..ahem.."shown" the other exit

Oh bugger, weren't they going to do the complex on Lord Street with the bowling alley and cinema?

Can't see that going ahead now (although I think I'd be found jumping into the Harbour naked for a swim before there's actually something built on the cars parks around there)

I think it's great to turn the Castle Mona into 4 * Hotel, great use of such a fine building - although the surroundings aren't that great (shops in front of the building, wasteland/cinema and the Hideous Hilton Hotel :P

The sefton need to do away with the shops too, buy them back off the brewery and REALLy turn it back into what it should be.

(oh yeah and knock half the promenade down, castlemona avenue too... so it can have it's original drive back.)

I love breeze but with the hotel in the Sefton's hands it's RIP and HA HA HA at the shareholders who should think of selling up!!!

Nobody is going to make a return on that place. £4 Million quid price tag, my brother in-law reckons it would cost at least £6 million to complete a restoration project on the place, a country house of similar size in his county of lincolnshire has just cost around that.

Remember Sefton owns the palace cinema which tucks in nicely at the back, subject to parking, a potential problem, it seems to me to be an ideal spot for 4* hotel and entertainment complex with restarants for meals before and after films, additional screens, maybe updated bowling, health spa and sophisticated night club lounge, cabaret and banqueting. The new owners will not be interested in a noisy late night venue for the masses with drunken yobs, violence and police activity every weekend (and that is the truth about what Breeze was**). They may be interested in another application for the second casino licence as well.

As for the drive to the front door that would take a lot of restoring but remember it went from St Georges Church, down Finch Road through Villa Marina gardens, along Castlemeona Ave and then behind the hotels at the front of the drives. Most of it is still there. There are about 4 blockages by buildings.

** I was in court all morning. Safe to say that of the umpteen drunk & disorderly, offences on licensed preemises, Public Order Act, minor assaults and provking behaviour offences nearly half appeared to be from Breeze in its final two week ends and there are three more on the list for Mr Moyles court on Tuesday

Would love somewhere tasteful to go for a special evening out. Untouched by yobs, or feeding frenzy taxi ranks. Somewhere there are boxes of tissues and hand cream in the loos because no one is going to nick them! A quality venue is much needed.

These places did exist not more than 30 years' ago, it would be good to see the return of a bit of class for a night out on the island. And where better but the Castle Mona, which is probably the oldest building on the prom?

I doubt they need to re-open Breeze if the smoking ban is coming. Clubbing is dying on its arse on the Channel Islands since they introduced it so yeah, let's have somewhere nice to go for a good meal and some decent entertainment.

As an aside, underground parties and illegal raves might make a comeback hopefully - oldskool stylie. ;)

and the bowling alley will be going too.

revise the figure to £10 million and someone tell me where the money is coming from? I spoke to a guest in the Sefton yesterday who had been here three years ago. they said the rooms now were starting to look tired and there doesn't seem to be any staff rooms being cleaned mid-afternoon etc. If you can't afford to keep you principle place of business up to scratch then why spend resources elsewhere.

If I was the Sefton management , I would open the Castle Mona for TT and milk it for all its worth and then close it for the re-vamp. It's hard to believe that all would be in place for a re-vamp to start before TT, in any case.

It may also be a good opportunity for the new management to understand how the CM operates and then come up with more meaningful improvements.

That's a good idea. Bars, restaurant area, membership required, rules of behaviour, dress code, a few business meeting rooms for the daytime, you can sign in two guests (more by prior arrangement) and you are accountable for them and their behaviour etc. etc. Open all hours.

I think it would be quite a popular move filtering out the pond life. These sort of places don't have to be snobby - just decent people and decent enforced standards.

This is really what the casino should offer, but the last time I was in there it had the same clientele that had fallen out of Strand 58 half an hour before and had no-where else to go!

I saw my first person who was stood up without leaning on anything however fast asleep and snoring ! Impressive stunt, I thought it was only certain animals that could do that?!
