TerryMcCann
notice the Seacat in the birkenhead dock. suppose the SPCo haven't any news on the fitting of a new gearbox. typical lack of information - sack the P R person MCB. Is that apart from the news where they have said Superseacat 2 will have the gearbox repaired and be back in service next month?
Pragmatopian
A general question, why on this website does the Sea Express seem to only show up on the maps at the time of the moment of collision? i.e. I can't see her from 11:30 till near the time of the collision, whereas I can see the Alaska Rainbow in most views (Looking at the times 11:31, 11;32, 11:33 to 11:36). Am I doing something wrong? She's out of range of that map in earlier timeframes - try switching to a map of Burbo bank and you should be able to see her. andrew
What is happening to all the Steam Packet staff who normally crew the IOM-LPL-IOM route? Are they all having a few weeks paid holiday or do they only get paid for when they are actually working?

When Skies Are Grey
Of course what you cant see/read at the moment is the radio chatter between the vessels and Mersey Harbour control....I am sure that this will come out in the MAIB and then you can really start to apportion blame. Those swift to chide the IOMSPCo Master may need to eat their words.

Pat Ayres
The Stean Packet must have really taken a hammering on this. In the post this morning a letter from them stating; The steam Packet Company will be arranging to reimburse your fare for the voyage and any reasonable costs associated with the incident. I feel myself welling up with love and cuddly stuff for the Steamie. (now just need to get the calculater out and see how much I can screw them for!) girl89
So if I was to book a day trip in April, would I have to choose the option of IOM - Heysham? The Liverpool choice is still on the website.... Or should I just wait nearer the time to see if they acquire a new boat?
Albert Tatlock
Looking at the Marine Accident Investigation Branch website, it appears that 'preliminary examinations' take an average of a month to 2 months, full investigations a year or more. _

They did say Superseacat 2 should finally have it's gearbox fixed and be back in service by March so you should be ok for the Liverpool route. I certainly hope so as I fancy getting away for a couple of footy matches before the end of the season
copycat
meantime what happens to passengers already booked on the Liverpool sailings who get transferred to Heysham - do they get left there or does the SPCo take them down to L'pool? Frances
There is transport laid on to Liverpool for those holding Liverpool tickets tho I understand as the return coach leaves Liverpool at around 1815 for the 2 15am sailing it my not be too attractive as Heysham Port is not the most pleasant place to spend time (possibly the Racket have modified this transport timing by now)
