TheTeapot
I note Trump has been busy on twitter again, this time threatening to bomb Iranian cultural targets, which would appear to be a war crime.
The Dog's Dangly Bits
In the real world there is plenty of Iran to flatten before then. And the sanctions do enough economic damage anyway.
Non-Believer
There's also a moral question to be answered about the ethics of bumping off state enemies on third party soil too. Although the Americans have previous in this, in bin Laden in Pakistan. Trump has gone a long way to further destabilising the Middle East in violating both Iran and Iraq. In fact, this may further unify their various factions in their proxy actions against the West. In which we are more accessible to them than America. So is state sponsorship and state funding of terrorism and irregular armed forces. Go for it Trump!

Manximus Aururaneus
It's interesting that the Yanks have chosen to make this a blatantly overt operation, no attempt at covert proxy, no apologies, and a direct link between 52 Americans held hostage by Iran and 52 target sites. He is telling them, bluntly, that he has had enough. The UK has today said that it had deployed an Astute class sub, armed with Tomahawk to 'within range of Iraq should they retaliate'. Again they have made overt something that is for 99% of the time covert. There is a very strong message going out to Iran and it's leaders will be shocked that a target such as Soleimani was so easily dealt with. There will be a lot of head scratching going on in Tehran. Raab is on the right lines, to paraphrase - They've got to corner them like a rat and then leave one, single escape door open. Between 5000 and 7000 but based on the number who are regularly deported because they are illegals the actual number will be closer to 12000 and that number are concentrated in two colonies but it's increasingly mestastisising. Wow! 12,000 IED engineers in the fens alone. All plotting to change the landscape. Impressive.
