Gladys
Apparently he spent a lot time as a child here accompanying his father who played in a band for the summer season. I've seen The Who twice, fantastic, especially when Townsend does the windmill thingy!
copycat
Pete Townsend's coming to town is he? *reminds kids about the perils of strangers with sweets* http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3007871.stm so tonight hasn't he got to report to the P{olice first when he arrives on the IOM and before he goes on stage? will the IOM Press photo him presenting himself at IOM Police Headquarters? sarahc
Under the conditions of the Sex Offenders Register, Mr Townsend will have to register with the police every year and if he moves house. Which of these two is he doing tonight?
sarahc
Oh but it was just research, you see, so that makes it ok.

=^..^=
It might be worth updating your knowledge on the sex offender tag http://technology.guardian.co.uk/weekly/st...2059832,00.html Plenty of other links out there but thats a good one. Strange that - the press were very quick to condem but not so quick to update you when further info came to light...
VinnieK
It might be worth updating your knowledge on the sex offender tag ... Strange that - the press were very quick to condem but not so quick to update you when further info came to light... "In many cases, the card details were stolen; the sites contained nothing or legal material only; and the people who allegedly signed up to visit the sites never went there." All very well and good, but didn't Townshend admit that, unlike some of the wrongly accused mentioned above, he'd used his credit card to gain access to actual child pornography, albeit as research? One question I haven't seen asked is to what purpose this research was aimed - I mean what amount, if any, porn involving kids does a person really have to view before they can arrive at the conclusion that it's utterly reprehensible? I would have thought none.

I would have thought none. "To fight against paedophilia, you have to know what's out there," he said, so clearly admitted it. The Guardian article may be right that some were falsely accused but Townsend wasn't one of em. You exactly right, we all know what child porn is, we don't need to subscribe to a child porn site to educate ourselves.
Max Power
Strange to judge really? And I don't condone child pornography at all. There is a thing called curiosity of which we are all guilty. Nobody knows what is in the mind of someone when they view things so are we entitled to judge on circumstance? The whole thing is tackled from the wrong end and fairly innocuous people are being locked up for mere titilation or curiosity. It probably prevents them from actually commiting more serious offences?? The real criminals are the producers of this stuff as usual!!

Nobody knows what is in the mind of someone when they view things so are we entitled to judge on circumstance? In this case, I think it's justified. The man didn't casually find some child porn on the net, he subscribed to a child porn site. He paid someone to provide the pictures, thus contributing to the problem. The whole thing is tackled from the wrong end and fairly innocuous people are being locked up for mere titilation or curiosity. It probably prevents them from actually commiting more serious offences?? Did you really say that? The real criminals are the producers of this stuff as usual!! These criminals wouldn't produce the stuff if there wasn't consumers. The consumers are providing the funds that make the exploitation worth while. Pragmatopian
Never quite the same as being there though. I've been to a few concerts that have been recorded for TV and it seemed like a completely different event when I watched it back.
