Just be thankful they agreed to leave their burning torches and pitchforks in the burning torch and pitchfork stands, which you will notice are provided outside all village halls for these very occasions. The crux of the matter is as far as I can see; the MHK's for the area were not kept properly informed of what was going on, ergo the residents of the area were left in the same position. What is happening is a natural reaction when people are kept in the dark and misinformed or deliberately not informed. When will people learn that the sooner you involve others in ANY change process the better the chance of success. Take the emotion out of this subject and a lack on information and disinformation is the root cause of these meetings. These children deserve a chance and the residents of of the Isle of Man are probably best placed to influence their young lives, if only we were willing to open our eyes and be less blinkered in our view of young people, and before anyone harps on, yes there are homes near where I live and the biggest problem we have is caused by the drug dealer who rents the house up the street and not by the kids from the homes. Can certainly agree with the need for accurate and timely communication - it helps in so many circumstances e.g. the main cause of anxiety during travel cancellations is a lack of information. Most reasonable people can accept that shit happens, and adjust their plans: being kept in the dark about what's happening prevents them from doing that. There'll always be someone objectionable, but he or she can only whip the others up into a frenzy if they have no alternative source of information to his or her speculation.
