copycat
Chewing Gum Removal As a part of our aim to make our Borough safe, clean and green, we are committed to removing chewing gum from pavements. Chewing gum is a nuisance if it is not disposed off correctly as it sticks to shoes and can damage some surfaces and carpets. What we will do: * We will remove chewing gum from our main town centres on a quarterly cycle. * Our contractor Cleanaway will remove chewing gum using a specialised removal machine. * We will ensure that if you contact us we respond to you within our Council’s customer service standards. What we would ask you to do: * Please wrap your used chewing gum in a piece of paper / tissue and put it in a bin. * Please do not spit chewing gum on the pavements/or roads. Go to to Douglas Corpy- it talks tough but when is action going to start? on 8th Jan it was reported that an expensive piece of equipment has been bought according to Chairman of the Public Works Committee, Ritchie McNicholl - but has anyone seen it being used ? another waste of ratepayers money methinks. who can say otherwsie. copycat
It was earlier this year on January 8th that MR carried the story from Cllr David Christian that Douglas Corpn were going to tackle the chewing gum problem on the pavements and through Strand Street - 6 months later and what progress has there been with the clean up? zip all - effective as ever by the looks of it - another complete waste of ratepayers money on coucil employees attending seminars and equipment never used
