I'm quite prepared to run the infinitesimally small risk of being blown to smithereens or flown into a building in exchange for greater convenience at airports. I'd also be very happy to make the sacrifice of identifying myself by my retinas and fingerprints if I could avoid filling in forms everywhere I go, and carrying around all manner of things to identify myself and pay for stuff. I object to the UK's ID scheme on the basis that the card is nothing about convenience and everything about being yet another piece of pointless bureaucracy in an already overly-bureaucratic country.
