We hear in the last day of so on Manx Radio (The National Broadcaster licenesed by the IOM Government) the latest unemployment figures.

Also heard running now on Manx Radio has been an advert for JobCentrePLus

- but log on to that web-site and its not the IOM Job Centre but the UK Government's Department for Work & Pensions web-site:-

What's going on? There are shortgae sof workers in some categories yet the National Broadcaster puts out adverts whereby necessary skilled workers are encouraged to leave the IOM. If IOM Government are trying to create the conditions for a successful economy then why is Manx Radio trying to torpedo that policy by encouranging workers to leave?

From IOM Govt:-

Although rising in February, the number of people registering as unemployed was below that of twelve months ago for the fourth successive month. At the end of February unemployment stood at 616, 1.5% of the economically active population, and 30 fewer than at February 2006. During the month of February 194 claimants signed on the unemployment register and 164 signed off. Of the total, 389 are males and 227 are females. These figures include 37 persons who require work permits and 48 who were signing on for National Insurance credits only. A total of 643 job vacancies were notified to the Job Centre during January and at the end of the month 389 jobs were held on file.

It could just be an advert booked by a UK-based agency.

But I'd go with your theory - it's obviously yet another blow being struck in the eternal war between the Order Militia Crucifera Evangelica which controls Manx Radio and the 'Ndrangheta-run government. By denying the Island skilled workers, OMCE intends to weaken the government and wrest control of the Island in a bloodless coup. Once this is achieved, it'll be time to invite down the alien overlords currently in geosynchronous orbit over the transmission masts on the Mountain. They will provide us with the technology to produce value-added goods, by means of which we'll quickly come to control the world markets in manufactured goods. The downside, of course, being that we'll have to keep our new masters supplied with our body fluids, probably extracted at one of the secret underground detention camps currently being used by the FSC to interrogate suspect dissidents.

All the clues are there: "Reiltys Ellan Vannin" is an anagram of "Vinyl alien snarl net". Vanishing skilled workers. It's all beginning to make sense now...

What's going on?

If your running a national advertising campaign - as Jobcentre Plus is - you do a deal to secure you nationwide coverage on local radio with a media buying agency. MR effectively get paid for running the ads for services that don't apply here as some muppet has paid for "UK local radio coverage" as part of a national radio package

So what.

Nothing more sinister than that.

But then again whenever have you wasted an excuse to talk through your arse.
