At the moment tho, there is are two retired inspectors employed as security/messangers in the court of Tynwald, there is a recently retired sergeant just been appointed to the crew of the fishery protection boat,.........sorry, don't have any more time. Police Officers may well get a reasonable pension but only because they pay an absolute fortune each month in superannuation. There won't be many other Government workers paying such a large amount in contributions. For his information, there are two retired Police Officers working within Tynwald one is a retired Inspector and one a Chief Inspector. There are quite a few former officers working after their retirement. They clearly have the necessary skills and experience to be able to get the jobs they do, and why shouldn't they get the jobs? And yes, Mr Shimmin has retired - nearly ten years ago. Get your facts right or may I suggest you find something else to do for a hobby (like grinding axes) instead of making ridiculous claims on an internet forum.
