GI James
From IOMOnline The people of Ayre will go to the polls on November 11 ... There will be four polling stations for the by-election, at Andreas Parish Church hall, Bride Methodist Church hall, St Stephen's Church hall, in Sulby, and Lezayre Church hall. The polls will open at 10am and close at 8pm. The polls will open at 10am and close at 8pm? So, as the Acorn Antiques of democracy crawls towrads political history - and you're a registered voter - you can't vote before you go to work (Douglas probably), you can't vote in any other area (ooh, bit too complicated that) and if you're caught in a late meeting you're quite likely going to miss out on voting in Ayre before its 8pm lights out. Please remind me. This IS October 2004, right?
simon
Isn't there some law which allows you time out of work to go and vote?
Mission
Postal voting would sort that one out. Either that or make it compulsary to vote and if the polling station times clash with work, you have your excuse to be late for work.
