[BBC News] Shore body named as missing man

Too much information BBC. Wouldn't it be a little more appropriate to spare the gory details for the family?

This, and tactics such as sticking a microphone in the face of someone who has just witnessed a tragedy and asking the thoughtless question: 'how do you feel' - really get my goat. Journalism sucks these days.

Totaly agree about the thoughtless questions ; "How are you feeling ? - to a man who has just been pulled from a burning house with his family trapped inside !'

Can't agree ;with you regarding the reporting of facts. The family would have known the full facts before they were released to the press. The reporting of details would not be protecting them. Why do we have this fear of reporting/showing death ? Death has become the new pornogrophy. The details are diluted, TV reporting is edited so that no body parts are shown. For goodness sake, what is the problem ? Death is part of living and it seems we are all in denial. It was only 5 or 6 generations ago that a public hanging would attract more people than a championship football match. Councelling has become a big industry. People need councelling because we haven't been 'hardened' to life. Too many people live very sheltered lives so when the knocks come along they are not prepared.

Fact: When a suicide bomber blows himself up, his head usualy remains intact and undamaged, and is often found close to the site of the explosion because it goes straight up and down.

I think the wider ranging topic of journalism standards could be its own thread and as such, there's no discussion value to this headline so in the light of the above comments, I'll just lock it.
