pamplemousse
On Sat 19th May, the exceptional RB Morris and Hector Qirko leave Knoxville, Tennessee to return to the Island for a gig at the Centenary Centre. This is their third annual visit, and those who caught them at the Centenary Centre or the Blues Fest last year (or one of their impromptu gigs the previous year) know to expect something really exceptional. This time around, RB will be playing new material from his forthcoming album 'Empire'.... For those who didn't catch him...the music is a blend of soulful blues, rock, roots and old-time country, counting Dylan, Cohen, Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie and the Beats amongst its inspirations. Mentored by John Prine and loved by contemporaries Steve Earle and Lucinda Wiliams, RB summons up the spirit of a backwoods Tom Waits hitting the road with Kerouac. Accompanying him is Hector Qirko, a star in his own right and one of the most breathtaking guitarists you'll ever hear. Quite simply, playing and songwriting at its most heartfelt and soulful best. Tickets will be on sale from Monday 2nd April at: Shakti Man in Ramsey, Celtic Gold in Peel, and Peter Norris Music. £8 in advance or £10 on the door. Show starts at 8pm. Don't miss this gig if you can help it! For more info www.rbmorris.com and www.hqband.com

pamplemousse
The presence of you and your good ladywife will be missed Manxman! Anyway - BUMP. Unless you're off the Rock, there's no excuse for missing this gig. If you're tending a sick relative, drag 'em along - it'll probably cure them. If you get your ticket any time before noon on Saturday, you can save £2 on your ticket - in Peel, that'll still buy you a pint.
