Memorial flight came over I think last year. I was down in Pt St M working on my boat getting scorched and suddenly heard the unmistakable noise and just stood and stared for a couple of minutes.

I've got practise week off now too as well as TT so no excuse for missing this. As long as I don't forget obviously.

Not a good day for Amadeus to take out his pedallo scale model of the Bismarck in Douglas Bay.

ROFLMAO!

He's been very quiet on this thread, perhaps he's secretly planning a counter attack. Maybe he should check his scale model, after all, the German submarine U-120 was said to have sunk because of a malfunctioning toilet.

I've seen on telly that people accepting jobs like that tend to end up getting 'paid' by receiving say a briefcase with a rattlesnake in it, or perhaps a shot in the back...

  • 1 month later...

This flight used to be regular sight when I was living in Kent.

The day they flew a Lancester bomber over the Reculver towers (where Wallis tested his bouncing bombs) along the path they once took, was a sight to see. For those who are ever down Herne Bay way - at low, low tides, the old cases filled with concrete are still there to this day.

I think it's more the fact that the Lancaster is the only one in Britain that can fly and different planes fly together depending on what the organisers of an event want.

The Lancaster like all the planes played its part in the fight for freedom, so it played a vital role in the war and is therefore included in the memorial flight.

Like I said, Lancasters were not involved in the Battle of Britain. I can't imagine why this information is being witheld.

Who cares, they look and more importantly sound superb all together. You never know how much longer that they can all stay flying, so enjoy while you can and stop rivet counting !!
